Friday night was a battle. A true heavyweight fight between two of the top teams in the SWS Conference. After suffering a tough two-point loss to Bethesda University in Los Angeles earlier this season, a game that moved Bethesda into first place. California Tribal came in with something to prove. This time, with the home crowd behind them, the Lady Eagles got it done, defeating previously unbeaten Bethesda 66-53 to move into a shared #1 spot in the conference at 6-1.

It was a fight from the start. At halftime, the Eagles led by just one, but they locked in after the break, executing on both ends of the floor to pull away late.
Keshara Romain was a dominant force all around, making an impact in multiple areas of the game.
Nikkiana Kinsel stepped up in the second half, bringing elite defense to shut down Bethesda's top shooter and point guard.
Nico Mailangi was a strong presence inside, battling in the paint.
Tyra Brown made her season debut and gave valuable minutes at forward, making an immediate impact in her first game of the year.
After the game, Coach Christian Chapman emphasized the teams resilience:
"I am proud of the way we stuck together and battled for that top spot. We stayed composed and took care of business when it mattered most" - Coach Chapman
Bethesda, despite the loss, bounced back with a win over Lincoln, keeping them tied with the Lady Eagles at 6-1 atop the SWS standings. With just a few games left, every possession, every defensive stop, and every win matters. The race for the #1 spot is far from over.
Upcoming Games
The Lady Eagles now turn their focus to a tough upcoming stretch of games:
February 15: A big test against NCAA D3 UC Santa Cruz, a well-coached and talented team.
February 17: A matchup with Northwest Indian College, another key contest as the season winds down.
February 22: Senior Night and final home game against Nelson University, where the team will honor its graduating players.
Every game matters as we push toward the postseason, pack the gym and finish strong!
